September 23, 2021
Prior to her career as a school counselor, Ms. Stuhman attended 2 years of community college at Mohawk Valley Community College, transferred to a SUNY Albany to finish her bachelor’s degree, then went to graduate school at the University of Scranton to get her master’s degree.
Why did you pursue the career path you have chosen?mmI enjoy talking with others, hearing their stories and understanding them. I also always loved school as a student, so I combined listening and helping others with the educational setting. I think it’s important for students to enjoy school, see value in their education, and know they are cared about!
What did you do before coming to NPHS? I have 5 years of experience in a high school in Northern VA. I also have 2 years of middle school experience in both Georgia and Florida. My fiance is an air traffic controller, and his career has come with a lot of training and moving! We are officially stationed in Minnesota.
What have you enjoyed most about NPHS or what do you most look forward to here? I have enjoyed the people the most– the staff and students have been very welcoming. I am looking forward to building relationships and working to make sure we are providing a comprehensive school counseling program that all students will benefit from!
If you could sit next to anyone on an airplane, who would it be and why? My fiance! He’s afraid of flying, so if he were sitting next to me it would mean we didn’t have to roadtrip-it!
If you had a warning label, what would yours say? Warning: emotionally reliant on my sports teams winning
