Casey Olson, the new social studies teacher, went to Gustavus Adolphus College and double majored in History and Social Studies Education
Why did you pursue the career path you have chosen? I’ve always enjoyed history and my 11th grade social studies teacher introduced me to a different way of thinking about it that really appealed to me. I also tutored in high school, so I knew that I enjoyed working with students.
What did you do before coming to NPHS? I graduated from Gustavus in December 2021.
What have you enjoyed most about NPHS or what do you most look forward to here? I’ve really enjoyed getting to know everyone! The social studies department is fantastic and getting to know the students little by little has been a blast for me.
If you could sit next to anyone on an airplane, who would it be and why? I’d like to sit next to John Dewey because his philosophies on education have really shaped my own.
