Trojan adapted floor hockey team takes state championship

Coached by Michele Kriha and Jeremy Kalal, the floor hockey team is made up of students from New Prague, Tri-City United, Belle Plaine and Jordan. Going into the state touranment, the team was 7-0. With a score of 12-1, they defeated South Washington County in the first round of the state tournament Friday, March 18th at 8 p.m. at Bloomington Jefferson Activity Center. The semi-final round was Saturday at noon vs. North Suburban. The Trojans won that match 11-0. The finals were at 4 p.m. against Burnsville/Farmington/Lakeville Big Cats, and the Trojans defeated them 12-3 to claim the state championship title.

Coach Shelly Kriha said, “I enjoy watching the players work hard as a team to achieve the success they have achieved!” 

The champion team practiced every day in the CEC gym where practices consisted of stretching, skills, and player development.
