Trojan Swimming state competition update:

Junior Payten Schieffer earned 5th place in the 100-Yard Butterfly and 8th Place in 200-Yard Freestyle

Junior Nellie Dalsin finished 3rd in 1-Meter Diving.

Sophomore Ava Bruegger placed 14th in Diving.

Section 1A competition results

The New Prague High School Swim and Dive team competed in the Section 1A swim and dive competition at Mankato East where they took first place scoring 371.5 with the closest teams, Mankato West Scarlets at 339 and Red Wing Wingers at 280.5. From the meet, two divers qualified for state and Trojan Swimmers will compete in 4 events at the state competition.  Additionally, the team earned 4 new school records and coaches Tracy Torgerson (Diving) and Cassie Kieffer (Swimming) were named Section 1A Coaches of the Year.

Here is what you need to know:

Junior Nellie Dalsin took first place in diving, was named section diver of the year and will compete in state prelims Wednesday, November 16 at noon.

Sophomore Diver Ava Bruegger placed fourth and will compete in prelims with Dalsin.

The following swimmers will compete in the following preliminary events at the state competition Thursday, November 17 at noon.

100-yard butterfly and 200-yard freestyle – Junior Payten Schieffer

400-yard freestyle relay: Eighth Grader Carolyn DeLuca, Junior Payten Schieffer, Junior Cassie Dworshak, and Freshman Taylor Bassett

200-yard medley relay: Junior Ella Lund (backstroke), Eighth Grader Carolyn DeLuca (breaststroke), Junior Payten Schieffer (butterfly), and Freshman Taylor Bassett (freestyle)
