Boys Soccer Team

John Wacker, Guest Writer

It was a joy for the NPHS boys soccer team to win their first conference game. The Delano Tigers have always been a challenge for the boys, but this year was different. After two halves of a straight fight, New Prague put the tigers away with a goal and ending with their first-ever win over Delano.  The varsity ended the season with 5 wins and 11 losses missing their last year and best year record of wins by one.

Throughout the program, many notable awards were given out. There were more than 16 players that received All-Academic awards for having a GPA of 3.0 or higher, two All-Conference awards, and numerous Trojan Awards.

Role models of the program and varsity team were players such as Cameron Sheriff, Sam McDougall, Jacob Lee, Issac Hill, Logan Bible, and Cael Overgaard mainly. They represented the New Prague way positively here in New Prague and away against other schools.

Coach of the varsity team, Gospel Kordah, focused on implementing a competitive and hard-working team. Beating teams that they have never won against reflected the improvement of the program in their competitive section. Coach Kordah wanted each player to give maximum effort in every game played which gave them the success they found throughout the season. Two of the four captains of this season were seniors. Captains Logan Bible and Henry Newton pass the torch to the newly nominated captains Sam McDougall and Jacob Lee.
