For the first time since 1980 the New Prague Trojan Baseball team set its sights on the state baseball title.  Under the direction of first year head coach Tanner Oakes, the team finished the regular season with 7-3 record in the Wright County Conference and moved into playoffs where they earned the Wright County East and Section 1AAAA championships.  This brought them to the place no Trojan Baseball team has seen since 1980 – the state tournament.

In game one of the state tournament on June 14 the Trojans faced the Blaine Bengals at CHS Field in St. Paul and came out ahead with a score of 7-6. second place trophy from the Minnesota State High School League.

The boys followed up the next day with a 12-7 win over Rogers again at CHS Field, earning them a chance at the championship against East Ridge on June 20 at Target Field.

Due to a rain delay, the game began nearly 2 1/2 hours after the scheduled time. Unfortunately the Trojans fell to East Ridge 7-2, taking home the second place trophy.

Not bad for the first state appearance in 39 years.
